Caprylic Acid Formula, 120 veggie caps | Function:
| Caprylic acid,
also called octanoic acid, is a well tolerated non-phenolic complex
of pure caprylic acid with a buffered calcium magnesium caprylate
complex. Caprylic Acid is an oily liquid found in the milk of
certain mammals as well as coconut oil and palm oil; a medium-
chain saturated fatty acid, it is said to have antimicrobial and anti-
inflammatory properties that may be useful for issues ranging from
inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS) to epilepsy. Caprylic acid also
plays an important role in the body's regulation of energy input and
output, and is helpful in weight management programs, a function
which is performed by the hormone ghrelin. The sensation of
hunger is a signal that the body requires an input of
energy in the form of food consumption. Ghrelin stimulates hunger
by triggering receptors in the hypothalamus. In order to activate
these receptors, ghrelin must undergo a process called acylation in
which it acquires an -OH group, and caprylic acid provides this by
linking at a specific site on ghrelin molecules. This helps to control
appetite and therefore weight gain |
Most Useful For: | GI Inflammation as in IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Joint
Support with Anti-Inflammatory benefits, and also as an aid in
weight loss and athletic performance. | This
product may have the following benefits: |
Some studies have shown that medium-
chain triglycerides (MCTs) can help in the process of excess calorie
burning, and thus weight loss; also provides relief from muscle
aches, joint stiffness and mobility restrictions throughout the body.
Caprylic acid has been studied as part of a ketogenic diet to treat
children with intractable epilepsy. Caprylic acid is currently being
researched as a treatment for essential tremor |
Active Ingredients: |
Caprylic Acid (from sodium caprylate)
800 mg per 2 capsules, calcium (as dicalcium phosphate) 60 mg,
Magnesium (as magnesium caprylate) 36 mg |
| Contraindications:
| Caprylic acid
is broken down by the liver. There is some concern that people with
liver disease might not be able to break down caprylic acid. This
might cause blood levels of caprylic acid to increase producing side
effects that may include nausea, bloating, and diarrhea.
